William Fager, of the Bronx, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2024, 4 weeks shy of his 93rd birthday. He was born to William and Anna Fager in Manhattan on September 24, 1931.
William proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved to tell stories of his days there. He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the New York Yankees and The Baltimore Ravens. He used his vast knowledge of baseball to coach Little League in Kingsbridge for many years. Years later, grown men would approach him on the street or subway, fondly remembering him as their coach.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helene (Babs), his sisters, Dorothy McGowan and Anna Faiella, and his grandson, Brandon Smith.
He is survived by his children, William Fager, Tracy (Daniel) Fenyo, Christine (Kenny) Smith, his beloved grandchildren (who affectionately called him GP), Devin Fenyo, Erin Fenyo, Daniel Fenyo, and Dylan Smith, and his great grandson, Greyson Coughlan.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, which he never lost, and for the love he had for his family.
Services are private under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill Inc., 1089 Main St, Fishkill, NY 12524.
