William Garrison Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Toms River on Dec. 22, 2025.
William "Bill" Garrison, a cherished son, beloved brother, and adored uncle, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, in Toms River, NJ.
Born on January 15, 1967, in Bayonne, NJ, to Mary Lou Garrison, Bill was a beacon of love and kindness throughout his 58 years. A proud graduate of Toms River High School East, Bill played baseball for Toms River Little League growing up and played soccer and was a bowler. He spent many years as a respected manager at Sam's Club in Freehold, where his compassionate leadership and genuine concern for both customers and employees earned him the deep respect and friendship of many. Family was the heart of Bill's world.
He shared an unbreakable bond with his mother, Mary Lou; his aunt, Barbara Cox; his long time partner Lori Thum; his sister, Trisha Apanel; and his nieces, Kira Apanel and Dayna Apanel. Kira's husband, Alex Venose, and their two children, Anthony and Lucas, as well as Dayna's boyfriend Tyler Gravatt brought immense joy to Bill's life. He is predeceased by his father, William Garrison. He cherished every moment spent with them, embracing his role as the fun and loving uncle. The laughter and love they shared will remain a treasured memory for his family. Bill's interests were a reflection of his warm and inviting personality.
He had a special place in his heart for chocolate martinis, Hallmark movies, and the simple pleasure of a well-cast line on a sunny day of fishing. He was also a lifelong unwavering fan of the Yankees. Traveling was one of his passions, as it gave him the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories with those he held dear. Those who knew Bill will remember him for his loving nature, his kind spirit, and his selfless devotion to his loved ones. He was a man who put his nieces and nephews on a pedestal and if something was mentioned that they needed or wanted he was immediately ordering it for them. His presence was a source of stability and warmth, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to William Garrison, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire those who were touched by his generous heart. Bill's memory will forever be cherished and kept alive in the stories and laughter shared amongst family and friends. He was truly one of a kind, and he will be missed more than words can express.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 12/26/2025 from 11:30am-2:30pm. A Graveside Burial to follow at Ocean County Memorial Park.
