William Gore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Osborn Funeral Home - Shreveport on Dec. 26, 2025.
August 5, 1981 - December 23, 2025

William Eric Gore graduated from Wuerzburg American High School in Germany and from Northwestern State University. He earned two master's degrees from Louisiana Christian University: Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Educational Leadership. His last teaching job was Lead Special Education Teacher at Booker T. Washington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.

During his time as a Special Education teacher at Booker T. Washington, he taught his students cooking skills and daily living skills so that they could succeed in life. Through numerous fund raisers, Mr. Gore outfitted his classroom with professional restaurant equipment. His students learned how to prepare meals from start to finish, from reading recipes to sanitary cleaning. Their specialties were gumbo, fried chicken, French fries, and ground chicken burgers.

Eric married Elizabeth Newtown in 2015. They attended Louisiana Christian University together, started their family while they were studying, and graduated at the same time with the same master's degrees. They eventually settled in Benton, Louisiana, and their family grew to five: one girl, Robin, and two boys, Nicholas and Charles.

Eric was passionate about his children and always made time in his schedule to make sure they knew how much they were loved. He taught them how to fish, to cook, to shoot safely, and to accomplish household chores like doing dishes, vacuuming, and taking care of pets.

He was also inquisitive about learning new things about construction, mechanics, and computers. He always had a new project that he completed from start to finish. Eric and Elizabeth worked together, not only on projects around the house, but also on Special Education activities at Booker T. Washington.

Eric had a quick wit and spoke fast. He knew what he wanted and he was determined to follow through, no matter what.
In his last days, he made videos to inspire his children.
