William Hales Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Herman Meyer & Son, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2025.
William "Bill" F. Hales, 58, of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, died on Monday, December 29, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky.

Bill was born on September 24, 1967, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, to J. Lawrence and Diane Hales. He was a graduate of Cape Fear High School and the University of North Carolina.

He was a proud member of the Bourbon City Camaro Club, where he enjoyed car shows, cruises, and time spent with fellow enthusiasts. He loved his family, Camaro, Corvette, Harley-Davidson, the Washington Redskins, and, most importantly, the Carolina Tar Heels. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He took great joy in playing video games, watching sports- whether it be Carolina Basketball or the kids' field hockey games, drinking a Coke or a sweet tea, and making sure his appearance was immaculate at all times.

He is survived by his wife, Melanie; his parents, J. Lawrence and Diane Hales; his children, Taylor Faircloth (Brandon), Brandon Hales, Lauren Shoptaugh (J.W.), Miranda DeSpain, Emma Hales, and Molly Hales; his brother, Jeff Hales, Jr. (Dotty); his sister, January Hope (Russell); five grandchildren; and his extended family.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Herman Meyer & Son, Inc., 1338 Ellison Ave (40204), followed by burial in Keneseth Israel Cemetery. Visitors welcome from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donation in honor of Bill Hales may be made to the Brown Cancer Center at UofL and Vanderbilt University Cancer Research

Bill I always enjoyed our chats and being your neighbor. As a rule I think we looked at things in life pretty much the same way. The car thing maybe not so much. See ya later my friend.
