William Alma Hardee, lovingly known as "Billy" in his youth and "Papa" to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025 at the age of 81. Born August 21, 1943, in Price, Utah, to Edwin Hardee and Sydonia Atwood, William was the second of five children: Loraine, Alex, Linda Mae, and Paul.
Bill spent his early years in Price, Carbon County, and Grand Junction, Colorado. He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1961 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for four years, including time at March Air Force Base in Riverside, California.
He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy (Roseann) Houck, in the Salt Lake, Utah temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on June 5, 1964 where they were sealed for time and all eternity.
Together, Bill and Roseann raised five children: Troy, Carrie, Shelly, Jason, and Bryce. He was a devoted father and beloved grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren - and counting.
A dedicated and hard-working man, Bill worked for NCR (National Cash Register) for over 30 years, retiring in 1999. His career and life journey took him across several states, including California, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, New Mexico, and Utah.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he served in many capacities throughout his life. He held positions in Scout leadership, served in the bishopric, and was a devoted home teacher - considering that calling among the most important and meaningful of his life.
Those who knew Bill will remember not only his quiet strength and humor, but also his resilient spirit. He had a way of facing life's challenges with grace and perspective, often referring to his trials simply as "just another opportunity." That unwavering optimism and faith carried him - and others - through life's hardest moments.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Roseann, and two of his siblings. He is survived by his five children, two siblings, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Sheila and Michele and the entire team at A-Plus Hospice for their incredible compassion, care, and support during the last few years.
Bill Hardee will be remembered for his faith, his deep devotion to family, and his enduring love for his sweetheart. His legacy lives on in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

May 9, 2025

I served with Bill Hardee many years in the Hobbs, New Mexico ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was always in good spirits and we, the others in a meeting with him would always leave with a smile on our lips. He was a hard worker, remembering the chicken coup he made Roseann in their back yard that ended being huge and we joked about it. He was a kind giant of a man, not afraid to bend down to help anyone in need. He was a great Scout leader and helped our son get his Eagle Award along with many others. Thank you Bill for your example and service, and we are grateful that you are no longer hurting,
Love, Corky and Pam Hall
