William R. Harrand, 97, of Glen Cove, NY, passed away on July 28th. Visitation will be held on Aug 2nd from 3-7 PM at Whitting Funeral Home in Glen Head, NY. Funeral Mass to be held on Aug 3rd at 11 AM at St. Hyacinth in Glen Head, NY.
Bill was born in Glendale, NY. He attended St. Pancras, Brooklyn Tech and Richmond Hill H.S. He then served in the Army during World War II. After discharge, Bill followed his passions and was a jazz promoter and volunteer boxing coach for the PAL. Bill worked for Kraft Foods for over 30 years and was Salesman of the Year many times. He was preceded in death by his wives Dorothy Niemann Harrand, and Cynthia Johnson Harrand. Bill and Dorothy raised their children in Glendale and are survived by Kevin Harrand (Maureen Donnellan), Lee Niemann Chase (Drew), George Niemann (Yvette), Adrienne Niemann Tomanang (Alex), grandchildren Daniel Harrand, Liz Chase (Michael Herman) and Peter Chase, as well as 5 great grandchildren and many members of the Donnellan and Fairbairn families.
Bill moved to Glenwood Landing when he married Cynthia. They lived there for many years and enjoyed socializing with friends, and cruising to many destinations. Upon Cynthia's passing, Bill moved to Atria in Glen Cove.
Bill was a happy, friendly, fun-loving man who lived life to the fullest. He loved socializing, dancing, cruising, bowling, telling jokes, doing magic tricks, playing spoons, music, trips to AC for Blackjack and Texas Holdem, and laughing with family and friends. He was loved by all that knew him and he left so many fun memories.
