William Francis Head, age 84, of Auburn Township, Ohio, died at home on February 1, 2025.
Bill was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Myrna (Orris) Head on November 8, 1940. He graduated from Baldwin High School. He attended Wayneburg College in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania before enlisting in the Army. After his time in the Army he attended California State College in California, Pennsylvania where he received his Bachelor of Science in Education, certified to teach kindergarten through eighth grade. Bill taught at Kenston Local Schools for 30 years, during which time he earned his Masters Degree in Administration at Kent State University.
Bill married the love of his life, Beverly (Young) Linert, on November 25, 1977. He inherited two teenage daughters who were former students of his. Bill and Bev enjoyed traveling to various places such as the Holy Land, Florida, El Paso, Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, England three times and a five week trip out west. Bill also loved classic cars and model trains, attending many shows for both. He built their current home 39 years ago, and he had a side business of painting houses during his tenure of teaching continuing into his retirement.
These all pale in comparison to Bill's love and service to our Lord Jesus Christ. Bill and Bev are members of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, VBS teacher, member of the evangelism team, and human concerns elder. As well, he served on various missions trips.
Bill was preceded in death by his father Robert Head, mother Myrna Head, brother Robert Head, sister Phyllis Rugg and son-in-law Steven Gibby. He is survived by his wife Beverly Head, daughters Laurie(Gibby) Eckard (Aaron) and Sharie Rengers (Mark), grandchildren, William Gibby, Jonathan Gibby (Jay), Elizabeth Blouir (David), Joseph Rengers (Jessica), Rachael Boone (Kody), Christiana Glosser (Jake), Michael Rengers (Hannah), Andrea Schwan (Tim), Rebecca Rengers (fiancé Luke Wilcox), step grandchildren, Ian Eckard (Holly), Kevin Eckard (Kayle), Casey Eckard (Hillary), great grandchildren, Lolita and Otto Rengers, Jady and Wilder Rengers, Jonathan and Jared Eckard, Elsie Eckard, niece Mindy Jones, nephews Bill and Dan Jones.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 3PM to 7:30PM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church at 7196 SOM Center Road in Solon Ohio. The Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11AM also at Our Redeemer. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in memory of Bill Head.

One of my first memories of Bill was when Bill and Ivan came to visit us at our home to talk with my husband about the Gospel. They spoke to us about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. They were genuine, respectful and kind. I remember Bill had a warm smile and his face lit up with Christ's love. You could tell he loved the Lord and he genuinely cared about our souls and where we would spend eternity. I will forever be grateful for his faith-filled contributions to our whole family. Well done, Good and Faithful Servant! We'll miss Bill and always remember what he did for our family. We are praying for Bev and the family for comfort and peace during this time of loss.
