William David Holliday III

"Doc"
William David Holliday III was born and raised in West, by God Virginia! Doc was the son of the late Donna Hilliard and William David Holliday Jr., and was raised by his maternal grandparents, George and Ruth Karnes.
Doc attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV and after relocating with his family, graduated from Eau Gallie High School in Melbourne, FL. (Why would we mention it? Dude graduated two years early! He was super young when he attended UEI). Once he graduated, United Electronics Institute, he realized his objective, (and we quote), "To increase my knowledge of hardware theory while maintaining my technical aptitude."
In Cocoa Beach, FL, Doc met Missy, and they knew! He flew up to Charlotte, NC from Florida 4 years later to bring her home to make her his wife. Together, they raised three sons in Margate, FL. Doc cherished family time, while playing softball (3rd base!) with his family in the stands, coaching the Margate Youth Khoury League baseball teams (along with his sons), or attending music concerts with his wife, family and friends – we didn't forget about golf. Seriously though, he fell in love with the Florida Everglades, and always tried to find time to go swordfishing and pilot his ultimate ride on the airboat, "Southern Pride", (and we got gators!)
In pursuit of passions, Doc and Missy relocated to Moyock, NC in 2014 in order to fulfill his desire to have the opportunity to make a difference in the operation and stability of the most technologically advanced combat system in the United States, with Lockheed Martin's Aegis Modernization Team.
He is survived by his wife Missy (Melissa Ann); his sons William David Holliday IV (Colleen MacVittie) of Denver, CO, Jeremy James Holliday of Indiantown, FL, and Steven K. Holliday (Beth Marshall) of Moyock, NC; and two grandchildren, Ayva Lynn Holliday and Braylin Biddiscombe, and his sisters Barbara Wade (Richard), Michelle Holliday-Smith (Jasper), Teresa Holliday, DeeDee Reynolds, Candi Holliday, Cheryl (Bob Rooney, Alicia (Reid) Gartelmann, sister-in-law Cathy (Tommy) Starnes and brother-in-law BJ Crow. He is preceded in death by his sister Willa Dunn-Williams, and brother-in-law Tony Crow.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home Chesapeake Chapel, 929 South Battlefield Blvd, Chesapeake, VA 23322.
