William M. Horstman Sr.

William M. "Bill" Horstman, Sr., 87, of Bingham Collins Rd., passed away in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday May 1, 2024. He was born on July 18, 1936 in New Berlin, a son of the late William and Francis (Kazlauskas) Horstman. Bill was one of the last students to receive his education in the Columbus one room schoolhouse, upon the school's closing, he transferred to Sherburne High School. William was united in marriage to Beatrice A. "Chi Chi" Ritter at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hamilton, on April 4, 1959.
Bill had worked for the NYS Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator for 31 years, until his retirement. He also owned and operated Bill's Tree Farm, where many residents would get their Christmas trees. Bill was a member of St. Malachy's Roman Catholic Church, Sherburne. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed landscaping around his home, cutting wood, riding his side by side and his "jitney". He loved partying with family and friends.
Surviving are his wife; Chi Chi, his children; Pamela and William Northey, William Horstman, Jr., Tina (Lisa) Anderson, all of Sherburne, Joseph and Angela Horstman, of Brandon, FL., Catherine and Corey Lounsbury, Sr., of Sherburne, his sisters; Patricia Copley, of Norwich, Sylvia King, of Manlius, his grandchildren; Kayla Northey, William Northey III, Charles and Trish Anderson, Ian Anderson, Jason Anderson, Rahkia and Joseph Creaco, Lauren Horstman, Logan Horstman, Shelbie and Seth Roys, Cheznie Lounsbury, triplets, Corey, Jr., Carson and Cooper Lounsbury, his great-grandchildren; Colton, Kenzlee, Espn, Madden, Porter, McKenzie, K.J., Kingzli, Kholbi, Karter, Ryan, Jordyn, Paige, Emma and Laiklyn.
He was predeceased by an infant grandson, Jaycin Anderson and by a brother, Richard Horstman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 6, 2024 at 11:00am from the St. Malachy's Roman Catholic Church, 31 E. State St., Sherburne, NY 13460. Interment will follow in St. Malachy's parish cemetery.
Following the interment, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Horstman Residence, 1058 Bingham Collins Rd., Sherburne, NY 13460.
In keeping with Bill's wishes, there will be no calling hours.
