William Ingram Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
William Russell Ingram III of Palmer, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2025. He was 77 years old.
Russell was born on January 21, 1948, to Eleanor (Susie) and William Russell (Bill) Ingram Jr. in Magnolia, Arkansas. He attended Provine High School and earned a liberal arts degree from Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
Russ worked for Bechtel Power Corporation as a procurement manager for 41 years. He oversaw building supplies for a variety of power plants all over the U.S. and Asia.
Russ's work took him to the oil pipeline in Fairbanks, Alaska, where he fell in love with his sweetheart Glenda Betts of Palmer, Alaska. They were married on October 2,1976 and shortly thereafter moved to the east coast. They eventually settled and raised their three children in Walkersville, Maryland. Russ and Glenda worked side by side throughout their marriage, whether in church service, cooking together, hosting family and friends, or taking care of their home and kids.
Russ loved church and civic service. He served in leadership positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as Boy Scouts of America and Lions Club International. He enjoyed photography, grilling, and cooking. He started a catering company and cooked for weddings, civic events, and at the weekly farmer's market.
Russ was a friend to everyone and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. His family and friends will miss his jovial laugh, tons of good food, and large DSLR camera at the ready.
Russ is survived by his wife, Glenda and their three children, Ben Ingram, Jacqueline Daley and husband John Daley, and Carrie May and husband Keaton May. Grandpa Russ leaves behind his grandchildren, Sophia, Natalie, Leo, and Juliet. Uncle Russ will be missed by his sister's children, Curt Hines and Ginny Beaudreau, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews from his Alaska extended family. He will be missed as well by his church family and friends in Walkersville, Maryland and Palmer, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Russell Ingram Jr. and Eleanor (Susie) Combs, his siblings Judson Ingram, Julia Hines and her husband Curtis Hines. We are comforted to know he is with his loved ones who he has missed for many years.
Funeral services will be held on July 11, 2025, at 12 pm, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 560 W Bogard Rd, Palmer, AK 99645.
Friends and family are invited to book a stay at their Airbnb, McKinley Birch Bed and Breakfast in Palmer, Alaska.
