William Vernon Ison

William Vernon Ison, age 70, of Harrisburg passed away peacefully at home on February 11, 2026.

He was born September 5,1955, to Virginia and Otis Ison in New London, Wisconsin.

He loved the outdoors. Whether he was casting a line or setting up camp drinking beer and swapping stories beside the campfire, he found his greatest peace beneath the sky full of stars with the people he loved. He was affectionally known as (Mr. Bill) by his nieces and nephews.

He was a concrete finisher for 50 years with Local Union 318.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his friend Leslie Owen; his children, William Ison Jr., Lisa (Mikebo) Underwood, Krystal (Thomas) Draper, Sara Ison, Joshua Ison and Artie Cook; grandchildren, Danielle Ison, Cade Ison, Logan, Emily and Anthony Underwood, Ali Ison, Kami Fulkerson, Madison Ison, Taylor Draper, Tim and Tanesha Jones; sisters, Diania Wingo, Karen (Del) Rhoton and Roberta (Freeman) Banks; brothers, Matt and Bob Ison and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gaila Hampton, Julia Duncan, Debra Sutherland; an infant sister, Catherine Ison and brothers Gregg and Elliott Ison.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Brian Mixon officiating.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bob Ison to help the family with funeral expenses.
