William J. Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by North Haven Funeral Home, Inc. on Mar. 12, 2026.
William J. Asid, 96, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at The Willows in Woodbridge. William was born in New Haven on January 27th, 1930, and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Asmar Asid. William grew up in West Haven and was a 1948 graduate of West Haven High School. After school, William joined the armed forces and served his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army, 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, making two separate combat jumps, during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the service, William went to attend Quinnipiac University, earning his associate's degree in marketing. He worked as a market manager for Southern New England Telephone for over 25 years. William also worked for Hallock's Appliance until his retirement at 82 in 2012. William always referred to himself as a "Rock Rat" and always enjoyed taking rides to Savin Rock and fishing in West Haven. Most of all, William enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally. William is survived by his children, Cheryl (Joseph) Brigante and Michael Asid (Linda Pompa), his grandchildren, Matthew (Stefanie) Brigante and Melissa (Russell) Sousa, and his sister, Mary Jean DelVasto. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Philip Asid.

The visiting hours will be on Monday, March 16th, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Catholic funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 11:30. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, www.donorservices.alz.org
