William E. Jakes, husband of the late Marjorie Blakeman Jakes, father to Alison Jakes Argersinger (Tom), William B. Jakes, Rev. Jeffrey P. Jakes (Katie) was called to Heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 4, 2025. Born in Syracuse, NY on April 29, 1932, Bill lived in several Upstate New York cities before becoming a Florida resident in 1990. He was a devoted father to his 3 children and grandfather to 16 and great-grandfather to 25. Bill was a born leader serving as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army, Director of Communication Operations at Verizon, former board chairman of Faxton Hospital in Utica, NY, Trustee Emeritus of Utica University and a Field Officer at the USMA. Bill graduated from Ohio University in 1954 and then married the love of his life Marjorie Blakeman one week later. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, brother and sister, many nieces and nephews and many friends who are like family.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2025 at King’s Chapel, 2735 Sand Lake Rd, Longwood, FL 32779. In lieu of flowers, his memory may be honored with gifts to King’s Chapel, PO Box 941591 Maitlan
