Youngstown - William "Bill" Jones, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 9, 2025, at Mercy Health-Youngstown, surrounded and comforted by his loving family.
Born on January 24, 1948, to Paul and Dorothy (Cole) Jones in Youngstown, OH, Bill graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1966. He began his career at Northside Hospital, where he met his beloved wife, Patricia. Following this, Bill dedicated over 40 years to General Fireproofing in various capacities, ultimately serving as the customer service manager until the company closed in 2006.
A committed member of St. Stanislaus Church in Youngstown for many years, Bill was active in parish life, including serving as Parish Council President. Following the church's closure in 2020, he continued his spiritual journey at Christ Our Savior Parish in Struthers, OH.
A lifelong, devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Youngstown State Penguins, Bill's unwavering support never faltered, regardless of the team's performance. Bill loved working to keep his yard looking pristine and spent countless hours outdoors keeping it picture perfect.
Bill's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Samsonchick, whom he married on June 6, 1968, in Struthers, OH. Patty devoted herself to being his sole caretaker in his final years with love and dedication, standing by his side for better or for worse for 56 years.
Daddy will be deeply missed by his children, daughter, Kimberly (Tim) Ritter of Boardman, and son, Jeff (Jennifer) Jones of Struthers. Grandpa cherished each of his precious grandchildren, Alyssa Ritter, Sadie Jones, Connor Jones and Sydney Joy Jones. A smile would light up his face every time one walked through the door.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Paul "Butch" Jones and Donald Jones.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. A prayer service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Lake Park Cemetery. Rejoice with the family, for Bill finally rests in peace in the arms of his Savior, Lord Jesus Christ.
