William "Bill" G. Joyner, 66, of Virginia Beach, passed away on September 27, 2024. Billy was born on May 4, 1958 in Nassawodox, VA, to the late Jerry Joyner and Doris Slate Joyner. He graduated class of 1976 from Cox High. A certified master mechanic, Bill owned and operated a local HVAC company, Mechanical Technology, for 30+ years.
Passionate about sports from a young age, Bill competed at the highest levels of mens and co-ed softball, pitching for multiple championship-winning teams over the years. Bill gave back to the community in his capacity as a youth basketball coach, coordinator, and president of Courthouse Recreation, where he often waived league dues for families in need. He also donated scoreboards to local schools and ball fields.
While co-teaching Sunday school with his wife, Terri, Bill enjoyed making paper airplanes for the kids who attended. He loved to fish with his father as a child and with his friends and family later in life. A beacon of joy to those who had the pleasure of knowing him, Bill was devoted to his family, God, and maintaining relationships with the people he loved. Outgoing by nature, Bill never met a stranger.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 41 years Terri Bryant Joyner; his son Chris Joyner and his girlfriend Tracey Fancher; his daughter Samantha Joyner Wever and her husband Chris Wever; his siblings Denise Joyner Sutton, Michelle Joyner and her husband Dave Weiner, Scott Joyner and his wife Daisy Joyner; nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 1pm at Courthouse Community Methodist Church, 2708 Princess Anne Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23456.

So sorry to learn of Bill's passing. I knew him as a coach for Courthouse rec for many years. Bill gave many hours of dedicated service to that organization so that youth could enjoy playing sports. He was always a welcome sight at rec events and was loved by his players. So glad he passed my way in life. He will not be forgotten. John Curtis Va Beach
