William "Bill" Kilroy Sr., 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on April 10, 2024, in Canton, MA. Beloved husband of Lorraine (Aliano) Kilroy, father of William Kilroy Jr. and his wife Michelle Kilroy of Westwood and Karen Kilroy of Canton, and grandfather of Kelsey Kennedy and her husband Michael Kennedy, Lauren Kilroy, and Liam Kilroy, and great-grandfather to Aurora Kennedy.
Bill was born on March 2, 1937, in South Boston, MA, to James and Delia Kilroy. He grew up in a lively household alongside his siblings, Mary, Francis, Thomas, and the late James and John Kilroy.
After graduating from Cathedral High School, he furthered his education by earning a bachelor's degree from Boston College in 1958, setting the stage for a life of varied and meaningful pursuits.
A proud US Navy veteran, William served his country with honor. Among his more notable accomplishments was his role as a juvenile probation officer in Boston, where he guided many young lives with compassion and wisdom. He was also very successful in many entrepreneurial endeavors.
An avid golfer, William could frequently be found on the greens of George Wright and Norfolk country clubs, where his love for the game was only matched by his competitive spirit and camaraderie with fellow golfers. Cherished memories include winning the father-son golf tournaments numerous times.
William's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, friends, and community. His presence was a source of stability and his absence will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Please join us for a celebration of life and a final farewell. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington Street Canton Monday 4-8 pm. Funeral Mass at Saint Oscar Romero Parish Canton Tuesday morning at 10. Burial to follow at Saint Mary's Cemetery Canton.
