Obituary of William M. Klepper, III
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William M. Klepper, III, a cherished father & grandfather, devoted husband, loving son, brother, and beloved uncle, who left us at the age of 58 after an 18-year battle with cancer. Bill, of Ewing, NJ and formerly a longtime resident of
Madison, NJ, touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Bill is survived by his adoring wife, Sandy, with whom he shared 34 years; son Benjamin (Jada) and namesake grandson William Samuel; son Samuel & girlfriend Lauren. He is also survived by his loving parents, William and Susan Klepper, sister Caroline (Ron) Ciraolo, brother Michael (Andee) Klepper, brother-in-law Hank Zuczek and sister-in-law Lisa (Vincent) Guarini, several nieces and nephews: Gabrielle Ciraolo, Nicholas Ciraolo, Kayleen (TJ) Gibbs, Elissa Bancroft, Madison (Patrick) Kelly, Sean (Christa) Meara, Kelsey Meara (Scott), and Kristen Meara. Finally, William is survived by each and every person whose life he has touched in one way or another, of which, despite his own belief, there are too many to name.
A 1985 graduate of The Pennington School, Bill built a remarkable 30-year career at UPS, rising through the ranks from package car loader to Senior Data Repository Analyst-a role in which he earned the nickname 'DIR Support King' for his expertise and dedication. Bill retired from UPS in 2023.
Prior to his 2007 cancer diagnosis, Bill enjoyed an active and healthy lifestyle. Playing golf was one of Bill's favorite pastimes, and despite being an amputee, he managed to play one last time. Among his proudest accomplishments, Bill completed the New York City marathon with only two weeks of training. Bill was an avid sports fan, following the Eagles, Phillies, and Yankees. He attended many sporting events with his children, sharing the love of the game. He was an avid online gamer, who relished the ability to run and jump in a fantasy world.
Bill was an audiophile. His eclectic taste in music ranged from classical, to Rush, to 1970's easy listening…if it had a melody and a beat, then Bill listened with joy. Bill spent much of his free time pursuing the perfect pair of headphones and building the ultimate music setup, which he finished in his new home. Bill passed this love on to his children, taking them to many concerts, including the Irish Rovers, America, and The Dead and Company. His presence will be missed at all future shows they attend.
Bill enjoyed constructing and creating. He built an intricate playset for his boys at their first home, planned and supervised renovations on his second home, and spent his spare time creating ideal home layouts on his PC. Bill was a multi-year reigning champion of the Madison Pack 226 Cub Scout Pinewood Derby, for which he spent many hours perfecting the aerodynamics of his pinewood cars.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Bill to be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025 at St. Vincent Martyr Church, 26 Green Village Road, Madison. Those who wish to attend the mass virtually may do so by visiting www.svmnj.org/livestream-mass
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jake P. Mocko Memorial Scholarship, a cause that was close to Bill's heart.
