William Henry Laughlin, 92, of Burlington, died at 10:55 PM Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at the Bickford Cottage in Burlington.
Born September 19, 1929, in Dows, IA, he was the son of William Henry Laughlin II and Bertha Ann Whisler. On February 24, 1958, he married Lorraine Ann Briese in Alden, IA. She died on February 5, 2021.
William graduated from Dows High School in 1947 and worked at the family owned Dows Variety and Furniture Store. After moving to Burlington he went on to work as a sales associate for Chittenden & Eastman Furniture for 35 years.
William was a gun enthusiast and a founding member of the Dows Gun Club. He served as a volunteer fire fighter with the Dows fire department. He loved all animals, especially Boston Terrier bulldogs.
Survivors include one daughter, Karanel (Tim) Larson of Burlington, and one grandchild, Natalie Larson of Chapel Hill, NC.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Per his wishes, there will be no visitation or services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society and Great River Hospice.
Prugh Funeral Service is in care of the arrangements.
