William E. "Bill" Luke

William Edward Luke, the son of Dean and Beverly (Frye) Luke was born on June 23, 1948 in Clarion, IA. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School class of 1966.

After returning home from 4 years of service in the US Navy (Vietnam Veteran), Bill met Judy Glissman and was united in marriage on September 5th, 1970, They had two children: Angela and Brett.

Bill loved to fish and enjoyed his annual fishing trips "up north". He was an excellent fisherman highlighted in 1983 when he caught a near state record largemouth bass in Keosaqua, IA. Those old enough may remember the article in the Eagle Grove Eagle. He also enjoyed hunting, mainly raccoon hunting in his younger years. He loved his faithful coon dog, Ruby. He would often share how she helped them pay off their first home with the extra income. Friends will recall that he was a deadeye on the pool table and spent many nights holding the table at the Smoke Shop. In his later years, he could be found watching college football and cheering for his favorite team "The Iowa Hawkeyes"

Bill peacefully passed away at home on August 10th, 2025 at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy (Glissmann) Luke, Parents, brother Larry Luke, grandparents Perry and Alta Luke & Edward Fry and Birdie Dakins, grandson Devin Resh

Survivors include: Daughter, Angie (Luke) Resh and husband Dennis of Fulton, IL., Son, Brett Luke and fiance Reaiah Thomason of Winter, WI., Grandson, Dillon Resh and Wife Sandra, Great grandson, Caiden Resh and baby on the way from Clinton, IA., Siblings, Gary Luke and wife Connie of Loveland, CO., Gloria Kemper and husband Kirk from Sidney, IA., Sheena Swisher and husband Tom of Belmond, IA. Along with other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at 12:00 - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 15th at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove, IA.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 1:00 on Friday, August 15th at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, IA.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
