William F. Luvender, 75, of Tunkhannock, passed into eternal life Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late William R. and Stella Novobilski Luvender.
William was a 1968 graduate of Pittston Area High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Wilkes University.
He was proud to have been employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture as a food inspector. He was an avid reader who held a deep appreciation of local history, state and national parks, and creating; whether that was making maple syrup, kielbasa, copper jewelry or Polish Christmas cookies. He loved to both watch and coach sports and spent years participating in scouting with his children.
During his retirement years, he traveled with his wife and enjoyed annual family vacations to Cape May, New Jersey. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and was an especially good joke teller. Warm and personable, he always had a story to share.
Above all else, Will was dedicated to his family. He was straightforward, hard-working, and supportive. A no-nonsense kind of guy, he led by quiet example. He loved his wife, Suzanne, the home and family they created together, and encouraged his children in everything. The type of man you could count on, he was strong, confident, and well-respected.
A man of integrity and kindness, he stood up for what was right and rooted for the underdog. He valued tradition and never forgot where he came from.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, the former Suzanne Musto; and children, Sarah Luvender -Newman and her husband, Marcus Newman, Wyoming; Katherine Luvender, Tunkhannock; and William Luvender, Tunkhannock; and grandchildren, Elijah and Joy Newman.

I grew up with Willie in Dupont. There was a group of us kids in the neighborhood and we did a lot of things together especially outdoors. There was always joking and laughter. I stayed in touch with him and a couple of us would get together periodically to visit or make homemade kielbasa from scratch. Willie was in charge and we enjoyed the time together. We made our last batch just a couple of weeks ago. I have a lot of great memories and will miss him! Stan Karkut
