Lynn - William W. Maciak, Sr., age 101, of Lynn, died peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was the husband of the late Mabel L. (McCarthy) Maciak. William was born in Chelsea, the son of the late Walter and Anna (Dolegowski) Maciak. He had lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life, and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1940.
William served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in both the North African and European theatres. He worked as a tool and die fitter for Untied Cutting Die in Danvers until his retirement at age 77. William loved to golf and often golfed with the Shea Square Associates as well as some of his children. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of an area bowling league. William and his wife Mabel enjoyed traveling in their later years, once their children had grown. He was a dog lover, and being with his family was his greatest joy. To his family, he was known as "Bup," a nickname one of his grandkids gave him that everyone quickly adopted.
He is survived by his four children; Anne Maciak of Lynn, William W. Maciak, Jr. and his wife Diane of Lynn, Michael Maciak and his wife Maria of Lynn, and James Maciak and his wife Doreen of Beverly; his son-in-law, Robert Naugle of Lynn; as well as eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Patricia Naugle and his siblings; Mary Pawlowski, Viola Pierson, and Steven Maciak.
Service Information: His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10AM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
