William D. Martin, 86 of New Paris, OH went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Austin Trace Health and Rehabilitation in Centerville, Ohio. Born on August 31, 1939, in Wayne County, Indiana he was the son of the late William D. & Maxine (Fleagle) Martin.
William worked as a board draftsman at Natco in Richmond (until they closed), a brief stint at Mosey Manufacturing in Richmond, and finished at Winandy Greenhouse Company where he designed greenhouses.
He was a former Member of New Westville Community Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in New Paris, OH, and Gospel Baptist Church in New Paris, OH. He enjoyed working outside in his yard and helping neighbors. After retiring at Winandy Greenhouse Company, he especially enjoyed working on lawn mowers and small engines. He was extremely proud of his son, daughter and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Austin Trace Health & Rehabilitation for all their care and the residents for their love and friendship.
Preceded in death in 2015 by his wife of 47 years: Helen A. (Markey) Martin, Sister: Joyce Ann Powers, and Brother: Eugene Martin.
Survivors include son & daughter-in-law, David & Tracy Martin of Centerville, OH; daughter, Felicia Martin of South Carolina; 5 grandchildren: Samuel Martin, Justin Hickman, Megan (Kyle) Bailey, Jordan (Brittany) Hickman, and Tyler (Alexis) Hickman. 6 great grandchildren: Madalyn, Lillyan, Jacob, Ethen, Avery & Austen; Nieces and Nephews; brothers-in-law: Dallas Powers and Jerry (Diana) Markey, special friends Jo Luginbill and Ginger Smith.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St., New Paris, OH. The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Randy Tate and Pastor Lawrence Moore officiating. Interment will be held at Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, OH.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Crosstown Baptist Church – Lewisburg, Ohio or to Northwest Fire & EMS of New Paris, Ohio. Online condolences may be sent via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
