William E. "Sluggo, Mr. Bill" Mauzy, 84 of Utica, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ohio County Hospital under the care of Hospice with his daughters beside him. He was born in McLean County on June 2, 1940 to the late William T. & Ellen Abney Mauzy. Bill was a member of the Baptist Faith and was a veteran of the United States Army. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Calhoun High School and got his Associates Degree at Western Kentucky University. He retired from Whirlpool after 32 years as a plant production scheduler and also worked from Daviess County Public Schools Transportation for over 15 years. He was an avid UK basketball fan and loved playing golf with his Whirlpool buddies, George and Robbie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; Paul, JP, Shirley Mauzy; and a sister, Virene Cummings.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Donna Wagner Mauzy; two daughters, Lisa Thompson and Teresa (Bruce) Westerfield; stepson, David Waters; five grandchildren, Paige Thompson, Jesse (Taylor) Thompson, Allie Thompson, Bryson (Amber) Westerfield, Garrett Westerfield; soon to be two great-grandsons, John Byron Thompson and Baby Westerfield; two step-grandchildren, Matt and Samantha Waters; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will be at 2:00 pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN. Visitation will be from 9:00 until the time of service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Ohio County, 1211 Old Main Street, Hartford, KY 42347.
