William H. McChesney III (Bill/Buzzy) 78 of Avon Lake, OH, passed away peacefully October 16, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born October 30, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Col. William H. and Betty Lois (nee Womer) McChesney Jr. of Widnoon, PA. Bill grew up in Penn Hills, PA, and graduated from Penn Hills High School. His education continued by attending Palm Beach Junior College and the University of Pittsburgh, Penn Technical Institute, with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He was enjoying retirement and being a great-grand father after more than 35 prosperous years as a visionary entrepreneur in the technology industry as owner and President of Black River Computers.

Most don't know, but as a young man Bill was very athletic and a fantastic baseball player - he loved the game. When not in school or playing baseball, he could be found at one of the jobs he held. Bill is also known for holding the record for total elapsed drive time from Boca Raton, FL to Penn Hills for an every other weekend drive home to see his girlfriend and future wife. Bill was a man of strong faith who taught us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. He balanced his ambitious professional life with an unwavering commitment to his family. As an avid outdoorsman, Bill found joy in exploring, shooting, hunting, fishing and spending quality time with family and friends. If he wasn't with family, hunting or fishing, he could be found at a nearby classic car show. Bill took pride in a small collection of classic cars he acquired and often would drive to car shows and display his vintage autos to strike up conversations with other car enthusiasts. While having historical connections with the past, he also continued to remain current as evidenced by his learning to pilot and fly drones. He loved technology and if it was a machine or computer, he was hooked. We will miss you immensely. You were always our 'go-to' when life got rough, someone we could count on, and always got your point across without judgement, and always provided sound advice.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Joyce Diane McChesney (nee Shriver); sons Brian McChesney of Valley City, OH; Shawn (Loretta) McChesney of Avon Lake, OH; Todd McChesney of Lagrange, OH; grandchildren Coty (Emily) McChesney; Angela McChesney; Emily McChesney; Katie (Ryan) Gehardt; great-grandchildren Stevie, Phillip, Renley and Kashton; brother Scott (Kathy) McChesney of Cooksburg, PA; sister Lane Bellman of Veguita, NM; sister-in-law Gloria Becker (Larry) Gorney of Plum Borough, PA; brother-in-law Jeff (Pam) Shriver of Bisbee AZ; nieces and nephews Craig (Michelle) Becker, Melissa Becker; Matthew (Elizabeth) Bellman; Casey Bellman; Jolene (Andy) Pace; and a lifetime of collected friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Betty and William; daughter-in-law Diane and brother-in-laws Craig Becker and Gene Bellman.

A memorial visitation will be held from 11am to 1pm on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Busch Funeral Home 163 Avon-Belden Road, Avon Lake, OH 44012. A private family inurnment at St. Martin's Church Cemetery in Valley City, Ohio is planned.
