William H. McCleave, 88, of Oblong, IL passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Ridgeview Health and Rehab in Oblong, IL.
He was born in Hunt City Township, Jasper County, IL on June 11, 1936, to Henry Wesley and Mildred Delores (Richards) McCleave. In August of 1954, he married Catherine Mary Miller, who survives.
William worked as a mechanic and machinist at several places including Hutton's Auto Parts in Robinson and Bill's Marathon in Oblong. He was a member of the Oblong High School class of 1953 and attended the First Baptist Church in Oblong.
He is survived by his wife Catherine Mary (Miller) McCleave, sons Terry J. (Kim) McCleave and William D. "Bill" (Jessie) McCleave, both of Oblong, IL; grandchildren Megan Strachan, Marshall (Kelsie) McCleave, Cory (Aprille) Musgrave, and Brittney (Mickey) Walton; great grandchildren Tyler and Sophie Strachan Carson Barnes, Mack McCleave, Maya McCleave, Carson Musgrave, Tessa Walton, and Maddix Walton. He is also survived by a sister Judy McCleave of Oblong, IL.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Betty Miller and a brother Robert McCleave.
Celebration of William's life will be held at a later date. Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Oblong Children's Christian Home 4094 E. 1050th Ave Oblong, IL. Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.
