After starting a family, she became a stay at home mom and homemaker, faithfully cheering Jay and Lorilea on in sporting activities, marching and concert bands. She believed they could do anything which instilled confidence and a strong sense of self-worth in them from childhood into adulthood. In 1973 she and Don were transferred by Marathon Oil to Texas City, Texas where they joined First Baptist Church in Texas City. She was a member of the choir, hand bell choir, charter member of the Quilting Ministry and loved hosting Sunday School Class fellowships in her home. She served in churches in Oblong and Robinson, Illinois, Palestine and Texas City, Texas. In her spare time, she loved to sew, refinish antique furniture and do retail therapy (especially shoes) with a few friends. She also loved going to Whataburger on weekdays for breakfast with Don and later with Lorilea and a few close friends.
Loretta could not believe that a small town girl from Oblong, Illinois, was able to go to serve on mission trips with First Baptist, Texas City, South Side Baptist in Palestine, Texas and Michael Gott International and see the sights in so many countries. She travelled to Israel, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Scotland, Cuba, Canada, France, Italy, Mexico, toured the 2nd missionary journeys of Paul and cruised to the Panama Canal. She also visited all 50 US States.
