Bill Messenger, 51, of Poplar Grove, IL, passed away on Friday, November 8th, 2024, following an inspirational battle against cancer.
Bill was born in Elgin, Illinois on June 19th, 1973, to William and Nancy (Nielsen) Messenger. He pursued his higher education at Judson University, where he achieved his MBA. Bill launched his career in the scrap metal industry at Messenger Auto, where he steadily advanced through various roles. He later worked at Behr Iron and Metal and Alter Metal Recycling, concluding his professional career as the Vice President of National Accounts at SIMS Metal.
Bill and his beloved wife, Angie (DeFay) Messenger, were married on November 13th, 1999, a union that was the foundation of a lifetime filled with love. Throughout the trial of life, they remained devoted to one another, their connection only broken by the inevitability of death. Together with his adored wife, Angie, they raised their three daughters with unfaltering love and commitment. Bill was a selfless and compassionate “girl dad” to his daughters; BrookeLyn, Brynn, and Bree Messenger. Bill considered his role as a father to be the most cherished and meaningful of all his titles.
Bill’s competitive nature and dedication were evident in everything he did, especially in his passion for sports, weightlifting, and enthusiasm for cars. Bill’s determination was unshakable, always rising to challenges with a strength that never faltered. Growing up he was captivated by Superman, and in his own life, he embodied that same strength and protective spirit, becoming a true hero to his family – their very own Superman.
Bill is survived by his wife, Angie; daughters, BrookeLyn (Nehemiah Arriaga), Brynn, and Bree; parents, William and Nancy; siblings Danielle (John), Jeremy (Amanda), and Josh (Andrea); as well as various nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his maternal and paternal grandparents, as well as several aunts and uncles.
