William "Bill" Miekka, a cherished husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Bath on August 25, 2025, after a valiant 16-month battle with glioblastoma and a 14 year battle with brain cancer, with Tara and his daughters by his side.
Bill's greatest pride and joy were his family. He is survived by his wife, Tara, of 10 years and his daughters, Maddison and Elizabeth, who were the light of his life. A "girl dad" in every sense, Bill embraced every moment with his daughters, from letting them apply makeup on him to learning to dance and twirl under their guidance. His calm demeanor and gentle nature made him the perfect confidant and playmate.
Born on January 30, 1982, in Owosso, Michigan, to William G. and Pamela K. (Witt) Miekka, Bill's early years were filled with the warmth of family and the joys of small-town life.
He is survived by his mother, Pam, and sister, Melissa (John) Sutphen, as well as many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews whom he was close with. He is preceded in death by his father, William G. Miekka and their miscarried baby, June. His mother and sister will fondly remember Bill's kind and friendly presence, as will Abby, the family dog, who provided him with companionship and comfort.
A graduate of Corunna High School's class of 2001, Bill's dedication to excellence was evident early on. He carried this commitment to Michigan State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in Media. Bill's professional journey led him to become a respected quality analyst in the insurance industry, where his perfectionist nature ensured excellence in all his endeavors.
Bill's personal life was marked by a deep Christian faith. His belief was the bedrock upon which he built his life, providing strength and comfort during his 14 years as a cancer survivor and throughout his 16 month courageous fight against glioblastoma.
An avid collector and restorer of arcade games, Bill's basement boasted an impressive array of 35 classic machines. He delighted in the original artwork of the games and the joy of bringing them back to life. This passion was more than a hobby; it was a testament to his love for preserving the nostalgia and excitement of a bygone era.
Bill's love for travel took him to many beautiful places, with special memories made on Mackinaw Island and in New York City. He relished the adventure of cruises and the opportunity to explore new horizons with Tara. To those who knew him, Bill was the epitome of loyalty, always there for his friends and family in times of need.
In every aspect of his life, Bill was a living example of love, kindness, friendliness, and Christian love. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed, but the impact of his loving spirit will remain forever in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.
