William R. Mincy, Jr. of Dover, age 88, passed away peacefully at home, Monday, November 11, 2024.
Born in Tennessee July 4, 1936, William dedicated his life to God, his family and service to his church.
William graduated from Lewes High School in 1955. A man of faith, William was an active member of Capitol Baptist Church in Dover from 1966 to present. He was instrumental in building the church, as well as serving as the church treasurer and song leader for many years. He was a brick mason for fifty years and taught this skill to many others. He loved music and was a passionate trumpet player and was in the band in high school.
William is survived by his wife Sylvia. They were married for 57 years. Children, Anita Evans (Jack), Dawn Eddy (Mike), Janet Beiler (David), and Jordan Mincy; grandchildren, Trey Evans (Rachel), Erica Swiney (Eric), Wesley Evans (Josey), Chase Evans (Caroline), Daniel Evans (Chloe), Megan Funderburk (Zachary), Jake Eddy, Melissa Eddy, Paula Richard (Brandon), Anthony Beiler, Craig Belier, Bryant Beiler and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother John Mincy (Gin), and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Mincy, Sr. and Fay Mincy, as well as his sister, Barbara Millman and brother, Lloyd Mincy.
A visitation will be held at 10AM, followed by a funeral at 11AM, Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Whites Chapel Cemetery, Milton, DE.
