Mr. William Morgan "Bill" Newport Jr, age 69 of Rockwood, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the Roane Medical Center in Harriman. He was born on January 8th, 1956, in Kentucky. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, and always enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He retired from shipping and receiving with Catnapper & Berkline. Bill was also an avid collector of arrowheads that he found on his hunts. Another passion Bill had was hunting ginseng in his spare time. He is preceded in death by his parents: William & Betty Newport; and his brothers: John Newport and Charles Tidwell; Brother-in-law: Richard Miller. He is survived by:
Daughters: Elizabeth Newport (Jonathan Brumlow), and Haley Morgan (Scott)
Grandchildren: Kinsley Louise Newport Brumlow, Tidus Morgan Lee Brumlow, Natalie Morgan, and Elliott Morgan
Sisters: Ida Treadway (Eddie), Betty Myers, and Geneva Miller
along with many other extended family members and friends.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Roane Medical Center and their staff for being so kind and helpful to Bill and his family in his time with them.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm ET at Evans Mortuary in Rockwood. Funeral service will follow at 12:00pm ET with Bro. Brett Chambers officiating and Joshua Wright giving the reading of the obituary. Graveside and interment services will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood, TN. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mr. William Morgan "Bill" Newport Jr.
