AHOSKIE, NC - William Duane Nowell, affectionately known as Duane, of Blue Jay Lane, Ahoskie, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2025, at the age of 49. Born on February 8, 1975, in Ahoskie, Hertford County, North Carolina, Duane spent his life dedicated to his family and his passions.
A beloved husband, father, son, and friend, Duane was a graduate of Hertford County High School. He worked diligently in sales and delivery with Coastal Beverage Company, Inc. for many years, where he formed lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike.
Duane was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and fishing. His love for nature was only surpassed by his devotion to his family, and he relished every moment spent cooking and participating in activities with his son. Duane's warmth and willingness to support his loved ones will be sorely missed. Duane's legacy will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace in the embrace of eternity.
He is preceded in death by his father, William "Bill" Nowell, and mother-in-law, Cheryl Coley. Duane is survived by his devoted wife, Leigh Coley Nowell; cherished son, Will Nowell, both of the home; loving mother, Cindy Nowell of Ahoskie; and respected father-in-law, Robert Coley (Christine) of Ahoskie, and his dear grandmother, Marion Dilday. His memory will also be treasured by best friends Eric and Michelle White, Gordon and Becky Alston.
A graveside service will be held in Duane's honor at Highland Memorial Gardens on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2 pm.
