William Charles Perry (Bill) was born on January 28, 1948, at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, beloved son of Charles and Neoma Perry. He died on January 12, 2025, at his home in Dundalk with his wife of 42 years, Mary Gallagher Perry, at his side. He is survived by his brother Chuck (Laurie) and sister Tricia (Paul), many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill attended St. Rita Elementary School, graduated from Archbishop Curley High School, and earned a degree in Industrial Management from the University of Baltimore. After university graduation, he worked at Esskay Meats in Newport News then Canalco before starting a 30-year career at IBM.
He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and was honorably discharged in 1976.
After retirement Bill volunteered at the National Aquarium in Baltimore as an exhibit guide and mentor for 12 years.
The church was always a central part of Bill's life. At St. Rita church he was a Corporator for 14 years, a Lector, money counter, Eucharistic Minister, Minister of Care, served on the parish council, and was part of the pastoral planning committee when St. Rita and Sacred Heart of Mary churches became a pastorate. He also served his community as Treasurer of the Dunlogan Community Association.
Mary and Bill traveled extensively in England and Scotland and did many road trips across the USA. They visited Civil War battlefields, the site of Custer's last stand, many other historical sites, and beautiful railroad stations. Bill enjoyed cruising and they have gone to Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, the Bahamas, New England, and Canada.
Bill was an avid model railroader and loved spending time on his home RR garden, going to model railroad exhibits and shops, and visiting with other hobbyists. He was an excellent woodworker and he was happiest creating unique items for others.
He said that he was really honored to be the officiant at the wedding of his godson Brendan and Laura.
A great sense of humor, always being supportive and helpful, and a genuine happiness to be with family and friends are qualities that made Bill a truly memorable person. He will be dearly missed.
