Bill Clatterbuck, age 72, passed away on November 1st. Bill was loved by his wife of 49 years, Deborah (Eaton) Clatterbuck, and his son, John "Peter" Eaton Clatterbuck.
Bill was born on July 29th, 1953 in Baltimore, MD to John W. Clatterbuck & Leah (Bott) Clatterbuck-Main. He has three surviving siblings, John "Michael" Clatterbuck & his wife, Ling Wang; Sally Wescott Henkel; James "Thomas" and his wife Mary Ann. He is also survived by nieces, a nephew and great nieces.
He attended Towson University and continued his education receiving his MBA from University of Baltimore and a M.S. in Project Management from George Washington University. Bill started his sales career with Campbell Soup. Bill moved into telecommunication with C&P Telephone Company. After divesture he retired from Verizon Large Business.
Bill loved life and excelled in his sales position that was coupled with Debbie's success that allowed them to travel the world from the US to China/Hong Kong & his childhood dream Tahiti & Bora Bora. He acquired the name of "Sultan of the Skybox" because of the many Verizon customers he took to the Capital Center in Landover, MD for sporting & entertainment events.
Bill's greatest accomplishment was the birth of his son, Peter, after 20 years of marriage. He was a "hands on dad" from coaching Peter in soccer, basketball & baseball to taking him on his college tour with Peter's good pal, Martin Linthicum.
Bill and Debbie retired to Pawleys Island, SC in 2014. Their love for the beach and small-town atmosphere has made Pawleys a great home.
Donations can be made to Duke Cancer Center, 20 Duke Medical Circle, Durham, NC 27710 in memory of William (Bill) Clatterbuck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 9, 2026 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, 1633 Waverly Rd, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. The time will be announced when finalized.
