NORTH ATTLEBORO - William F. "Bill" Pierce died February 5, 2013 in Iowa. He was the husband of the late Muriel (Davis) Pierce for 68 years before her death in 2010.

Born October 18, 1920 in North Attleboro, he was a son of the late Carrie and Earnest L. Pierce.

Bill was a master welder retired from the Naval Ship Yard in Portsmouth, NH after 22 years of service. he was a US Army Veteran of World War II serving in Italy and the Philippines.

Through his retirement he could be found helping friends of relatives with many building projects.

He is survived by Sarah and James O'Leary of Gilford, NH, Edward and Sherrie Pierce of Franklin, NH, Richard and Mary Pierce of Eden Prairie, MN, Alfred and Janet Pierce of Boyd, MN, Kathlyn and Roger Tippets of Colorado Springs, CO, Tim and Jeanne Pierce of Winterset, IA; a brother Joseph and his wife Thelma Pierce of Hampton, NH, brother-in-law Norman and Patsy Davis of Paris, TX, sisters-in-law Winona and Dennis Peterman of Mocksville, NC and Ester Davis of Edneyville, NC; Gwen and Ronald Noel of Culver, IN; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by four siblings, a grandson and a great-grandson. A viewing and funeral service will be held on Friday, February 15 at 1 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro, telephone 508-695-5651. A graveside service will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Attleboro.

A memorial service is planned for June 8, 2013 during a family reunion at Pammel Park, Winterset, IA.
