William J. Rahall, 67 of Woodstock, CT. formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 13, 2025 with his family by his side.
William was born on August 22, 1958 in Worcester, a son of the late William N. and Bertha E. (Reeks) Rahall. He grew up in Worcester where he was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. William was a softball coach for over 40 years at schools and colleges throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut and also travel softball throughout the northeast.
He loved to watch his grandson box but also loved a good night hanging with his buddies playing pitch and poker. He enjoyed going to Ocean City, MD but not for the beach but to eat all the food. He enjoyed taking long rides to find a good ice cream place, and in the winter, we took rides to go see all the Christmas lights.
He was the recipient of four citations from the state of Massachusetts for softball accomplishments and also received the key to the city of Worcester, Ma. He also received boy of the year from Ionic Ave boys club. He was also a golden glove boxer.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Christine A. (Noonan) Rahall; their son, Matthew Rahall of Plainfield, CT.; their daughter, Michelle Rahall; his grandson, David Rahall and a foster son, Shawn Barton all of Woodstock, CT. He is also survived by two brothers, Nicholas Rahall of Worcester and Scott Rahall and his wife June of Northboro; two sisters, Clara Robinson and her husband Raymond of Myrtle Beach, SC and Janice Roomian and her husband Michael of Fayetteville, NC; several nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother James Rahall.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon with his funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 256 Hamilton St., Worcester. There will be no burial. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
