William A. Regan Jr., 90, formerly of Cheshire and beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Sullivan) Regan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025. He was born on March 7, 1935, in The Bronx, New York, to the late William and Helen Regan, Sr.
Bill was a proud pre-med/biology graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey. Following graduation, he began an extremely successful and prosperous 38-year career with Burroughs Welcome, now GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). After his retirement, Bill continued to work as a highly valued consultant for GSK and later for the medical schools of Yale and UCONN, finally "retiring" at the youthful age of 83.
Bill was deeply involved in the Greater Cheshire community, volunteering his time with organizations including the Jaycees, the Chesprocott Health District, and the New England Ski Association, where he learned to ski to keep up with his young son Michael. He was a dedicated supporter of his children's baseball and softball teams. Later in life, he could be found very proudly at soccer fields, t-ball, baseball diamonds, and ski slopes, cheering on his grandchildren—often being the loudest, most enthusiastic voice on the sideline.
William leaves behind his devoted family: his son, Wayne A. Regan and his wife Diane, and their two daughters, Kelsey Earley and her husband Shane, and their son Finn R. Earley and Elizabeth Regan and her Fiancé John Curry. He is also survived by his daughter, Melanie A. Regan, her son Dwight “Jamie” Edson and his wife Gina, and their children, Leonardo James and Emilia Rose Edson.
He is also survived by his daughters-in-law and grandchildren from his late sons: Johanna Regan (wife of William A. Regan III) and their children, Lindsay Farnsworth and her husband Ralph (and their children Grace and Griffin Farnsworth), and Matthew Batchelder (and his son, Louis Batchelder); and Dianna Regan (wife of Michael P. Regan) and their sons, Alexander and Lance Regan.
“Uncle Mickey" will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Geraldine S. Regan; his eldest son, William A. Regan III; his youngest son, Michael P. Regan; his sister, Dorothy R. Brannigan; and his brother, Jeffrey Regan.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 S Main St., Cheshire. A Funeral Service will begin at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery, Higgins Rd., Cheshire.
