William Reid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Murray Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. - Cascade Chapel on Jan. 23, 2025.
William "Will" Reid was born on July 25, 2000, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the beloved son of Dr. Walter Winfred Reid and Dr. Angela Shannon Reid.
Will was a bright, talented, and adventurous soul who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. As a lifelong member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church, he was deeply rooted in his faith and exemplified the values of service, kindness, and leadership. Will recently rededicated his life to Christ, embracing his faith with a heart full of love and a newfound devotion to serving others.
Will was a proud member of Boy Scouts Troop 2020, the Fulton County Youth Leadership Academy for Boys, the Westlake High School Band, and the 100 Black Men of South Metro Atlanta Rites of Passage Academy. He was also a talented keyboardist and saxophonist who loved making music. Will's creativity and eye for style were truly unmatched. He was passionate about filmmaking and poured his artistic vision into directing music videos. He was also a proud "sneakerhead," curating a collection of more than 30 pairs that reflected his unique style.
Will had an incredible love for travel and adventure that took him across the globe. He took more than 40 flights, explored four of the seven continents, and marveled at several of the world's wonders. Some of his favorite experiences were flying a solo flight at the age of 16 and witnessing the power of an active volcano in Hawaii. Will's journeys were more than just trips-they were a testament to his adventurous spirit and passion for helping others. His love for service led him on a life-changing mission trip to South Africa with the Ben Hill Youth Ministry to volunteer at a children's orphanage.
Will is survived by his parents, Dr. Angela Shannon Reid and Dr. Walter Winfred Reid; his grandmothers, Mable Reid and Patricia Shannon; his godparents, Dr. Betty Anthony, Dr. Mironda Williams, Dr. Randall Little, and Val Clendenon; and a host of aunts and uncles, including Bobby Shannon, Lisa Moses (Mario), Marie Dillard (Oscar), Pamela Shannon, Sharon Bussie (Morris), and a host cousins.
William "Will" Reid's legacy of love, creativity, and humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his light will continue to shine brightly in the lives of all who knew him.

Bill and Angela, Charles and I send our sincere condolences and pledge to lift you and your family in our prayers.
I remember when our families met at the T-Ball field at Sandtown as our young sons began their athletic journey.
May your many memories and the word of God bring you comfort in this difficult season as you remember that God calls you blessed and has promised to be the lifter of your heads.
