William Lewis Richards Jr. passed from this life on October 19, 2025, at the age of 52. Born on May 27, 1973, in West Virginia, William lived a life marked by generosity, love for his family, and a spirited, jovial nature that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
William had a big heart and an even bigger personality. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, always willing to lend a hand or check in with a quick call or text. Loyal to the core, he gave his friends and brother a hard time but they always knew they could count on him.
He was a proud father and grandfather, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his kids and grandkids. His playful side always shone through, especially when surrounded by family who were the true loves of his life.
William found purpose both in his work and in the quiet moments. Professionally, he served his community as a housing inspector with the Norman Housing Authority. Outside of work, he was most at peace in the outdoors, whether fishing pole in hand or waiting patiently in a hunting blind. Nature was a refuge.
A true sports fan, William's love of football began in high school, where he played the game in West Virginia. That love only grew over the years, and he remained a devoted West Virginia Mountaineers fan. He also enjoyed playing football video games on his PlayStation, where his competitive spirit came alive.
Music was another one of William's great joys. He loved both country and classic rock, and nothing made him happier than rolling down the car windows on a beautiful day, cranking up the volume, and letting the music speak. His tattoos told stories of who he was, each one a symbol of life, memories, and the things that mattered most to him.
William was bold, stubborn in the best way, and always unapologetically himself. He spoke his mind, lived with heart, and left behind memories full of laughter, love, and loyalty.
William is survived by his daughter Bailey Richards and her husband Drake, his son Hunter Richards and his husband William Stubblefield, granddaughters Penelope and Amelia as well as brother David Richards and his wife Lynette, and nephews, Jospeh and Dustin. William also leaves behind many lifetime friends and other loving family members.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of William, please visit our floral store.
