Funeral, 12 Noon, Friday, May 9, 2025, Baptist Grove Church, 7109 Leesville Road, Raleigh. The Rev. Dr. Bankole Akinbinu, Pastor, Officiating. Visitation, 11:30 AM to 12 Noon, prior to the service. Interment, Church Cemetery. Public viewing, 12 Noon to 8 PM, Thursday, May 8, 2025, at the funeral home.
Survivors; wife, Peggy M. Ricks; daughters, Dierdra L. Ricks and Dana L. Ricks; grandson, Sgt. Donavan M. Hicks (US Army); siblings, Gwendolyn Ricks, Herbert Ricks (Beverly), Kenneth Ricks and Karen Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home, 941 Federal House Ave., Wake Forest.

Bill and Peggy, and Yvonne and I have been close friends since 1968. We both met after military service and attending NCCU. We remained friends as our careers relocated us to separate cities including Kansas City, Chicago and Las Vegas. We finally ended up in geographically close cities in North Carolina when I and my son moved back home in 2022. I will miss my best friend and I pray for the comfort and strength for Peggy, Diedra and Dana. Bill was most proud of his wife and his "babies" and his grandson Donovan. I will always be available for them.
