William James Ritter – Methuen, MA

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, William James Ritter. He peacefully departed from this world on Saturday, January 10, 2026. William lived a life grounded in faith and family, and was constantly amazed by the beauty of God's creations.

Born on March 20, 1946, William lived in Methuen, MA for the majority of his life. He was a graduate of Tenney High School, Class of 1964. William was first introduced to the craft of woodworking at school. His passion for woodworking would stay with him for the rest of his life.

William engaged in a variety of hobbies throughout his lifetime: racing his 442...and often winning...at New England Dragway, showing off his 'green thumb' with his gardening skills, and researching the history of and collecting coins.

William spent many early summers on Plum Island at his family's beach house, the Myra Shea. It was here that William learned how to fish and drive a boat...he knew, loved and appreciated everything there was about the ocean, the beach, and all things related. Later in life, he would own a boat and name it after his favorite poem, "Footprints."

William shared thirty-nine cherished years with his beloved wife, Barbara Rose (DiGloria) Ritter, who passed away on February 20, 2008. Together they built a large and loving family rooted in faith and unity. He is remembered with love by his children: Jason, Kendra, Nikki, Yvonne, Melissa, David, Sacha, Naomi and Vanessa. William also carried the sorrow of losing his son, Edward Rocco Ritter on June 12, 2025.

William's life was a testament to enduring love and steadfast belief. Those who knew him will remember his gentle presence, his good-natured sense of humor, and his dedication to his wife and his family. As we entrust him to God's eternal care, we find comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and now rests in everlasting peace.

Calling Hours are Friday, January 23, 2026 from 4 – 6:30 PM. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at the funeral home at 6:30 PM.
