William Lynn Robbins, Sr., 77, of Raleigh, passed away Saturday morning, October 26, 2013 at his home. Bill was predeceased by his parents William Carlton Robbins (10-23-1908 to 02-28-52) and Nancy Ruth Hall (10-17-10 to 10-13-95). He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Eva Carol Barnes, formerly of Lumberton, NC, a daughter, Leslie Robbins Arnold, her husband Shawn Damon Arnold and granddaughter Margaret Ruth Arnold of Holly Springs, NC. Bill is also survived by his son William L. Robbins, Jr. of Raleigh and granddaughter Carolann Nicole Robbins of Denham Springs, Louisiana. Bill, a native of Raleigh, graduated from Hugh Morson High School 1954 and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS Degree in Business Administration in 1958. His long career in Banking Administration carried him from The North Carolina State Bank Examiners to the Scottish Bank in Lumberton and First Union Bank in Charlotte. After returning to Lumberton as an Auditor for Southern National Bank, he met and married Carol Barnes, his one and only partner in life. He and his family relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1973 where he organized The Anchor Bank where he was the Founding President and CEO. In 1983, Bill and his family relocated once again to Plantation, Florida as the Executive Vice President and later President and CEO of Hanover Bank. In 1987 Bill and his family returned to Raleigh, North Carolina. After semi-retirement Bill returned to the NC State Bank Examiners where he began his career. In April of 2002, Bill retired with failing health at the age of 66. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Montlawn Memorial Park in the Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Wednesday, at Montlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. Arrangements are by Montlawn Funeral Home, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Condolences can be made at www.montlawn.com
