William Paul Robertson, 54, lost his physical life here, and met his Redeemer face-to-face, on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, resulting from an automobile collision. Bill was born in Pasadena, California on March 26, 1957. With his parents he moved to Ames, Iowa where he would play football for AHS, and graduate in 1975. He often worked in the restaurant business, and more recently in mortgage and insurance inspection. An avid Hawkeye fan, Bill attended First Evangelical Free Church in Ames, and cared faithfully for his aging parents. He is survived by his parents, Donald and Roxanna Robertson of Ames, Iowa, a brother Mark (Peggy) Robertson of Des Moines, a sister Leanne (Jerry) Alexander of Ames, and four nephews and nieces, Jessica (Scott) Somers of Chino Hills, California, Laura and John Alexander of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Sam Robertson of Ames. Adams & Soderstrum Funeral home is in charge of immediate arrangements. A memorial service honoring the Lord Jesus Christ, and celebrating Bill’s life, is being planned by the family and First EFC for a weekend date in early August. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 13, at First Evangelical Free Church in Ames. Memorial contributions may be made to First Evangelical Free Church 2008 24th Street Ames, IA 50010. Worked with Bill in the middle 70's at The Pizza House. The best work nites were when he worked. We were close and he was Best Man at my wedding. 40 years later my wife and I still talk of him.
