William "Bill" Edward Schmeidler, 56, of Wichita, KS, passed away
Tuesday, August 20 th, 2024. Bill was born January 29th, 1968, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of James and Joan (Tingstrum) Schmeidler. Bill was the youngest of 10 children. It was safe to say he was the baby of the family and was treated as such.
He attended St. Margaret Mary Catholic Grade School and later attended Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. It is safe to say neither school will ever be the same. Bill left his mark wherever he went. Not only did he make lifelong friends with his classmates, but also with their parents, siblings, and neighbors in the surrounding neighborhood. Bill had always been easy-going and fun to be around, even at a young age. In high school, Bill played football and worked at TG&Y. In his down
time, he enjoyed spending time with his friends at lakes, drive-ins, dances, and anywhere there was a good time happening. Bill continued to support his alma mater, the Golden Eagles, throughout the remainder of his life.
Bill became a father at 18 and again at 23. Bill adored his two kids. He had good role models through his parents and made sure that he lived up to the role of being a good father. When his grandkids and great grandchild came, his love for that role only grew stronger. Bill was family first to his final breath.
In 1999, Bill married the love of his life, Leslie. Over the next 25 years, they built a life full of vacations to Florida, Hawaii, Kansas City Chiefs games, NASCAR races, and created a home that was always full of their beloved grandchildren.
Bill worked at Davis-Moore Auto Group for 30 years where he was blessed to work with several of his brothers. Many of his co-workers became close friends. His impact on the company cannot be understated as he touched the lives of so many colleagues and even his loyal customers.
Outside of his immediate family, Bill loved spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He loved family events and holidays. Some of his most favorite memories happened on the annual Schmeidler Brothers ski trip. No matter where Bill went, good memories were sure to be made. Bill's best quality was his generosity. A perfect example of this was when he left his beloved neighbors on "The Hill" so that he could build a new home in a new neighborhood that would accommodate his sweet mother-in-law when they moved her back from South Carolina.
It's hard to draw a line between Bill's family and friends because his friends became his family, and his family were his friends. What a gift to so many to be able to call him a friend and family.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, James, his mother, Joan, and brother, James Jr.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Leslie, his son Joshua(Heather) Schmeidler, and daughter Ashley (Jason) Bugner; His siblings, David (Karen) Schmeidler, Joseph (Joyce) Schmeidler, Douglas (Kelly) Schmeidler, Sharon (Jeff) Mounce, Kathryn Schmeidler, Thomas (Gail) Schmeidler, Daniel (Rhonda) Schmeidler, and Richard (Elaine) Schmeidler. Beloved Grandchildren, Taylon Potts, Lucas Potts, Gabriel Schmeidler, Noah Schmeidler, Lilyana Schmeidler, Charlie Bugner and Great Granddaughter Brynnlee Davis.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church 1830 W.Grand Ave. Haysville, KS 67060.
The viewing will begin at 10:00 AM with a Rosary to follow at 10:30 AM and Service beginning at 11:00 AM.
There will be a lunch provided by the church following the Service.

To Leslie, the Schmeidler family, and all of those who loved Bill best, I wish you all comfort and peace as you navigate this sea of sorrow and may you find safe harbor in the love of our almighty heavenly father. Although I did not know Bill personally, reading about his treasured life and the love and joy that he brought to the lives of so many makes me feel blessed to occupy a time and space with such an excellent human being.

To Bill, may Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace; Amen.
