William P. Shaner, 76, of W. State Street, died Monday, April 8, 2024, at UPMC Jameson Hospital in New Castle. He was born on October 14, 1946, in New Castle, the son of the late Charles and Laura Shaner. Mr. Shaner married Myrna M. (Snyder) Shaner on June 27, 1966; she survives at home. Mr. Shaner worked for Kennedy Tubular as a machinist, and then Rockwell Spring in assembly, retiring after 30 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, driving jeeps, and detailing and working on cars. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three children, Robert W. Shaner and his wife Yalanda of Hillsville, Sherry A. Shaner of New Castle, and Russell P. Shaner, Sr., and his wife Angel of New Castle, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Larry Shaner and Michael Shaner, and one sister, Rebcca Turner.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, James D. Shaner, one granddaughter, and one brother, Daniel Shaner.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 2 PM to 3 PM at the William F. & Roger M. DeCarbo Funeral Home, 926 Cunningham Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the William F. DeCarbo Memorial Chapel. Rev. Matthew Bupp will officiate. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery.
