William Sollars

William Ralph Sollars, 82, husband of Judith Singleton Sollars and a resident of Cheriton, VA, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore in Onancock, VA. A native of White Plains, MD, he was the son of the late Ralph Sollars and the late Helen Davis Sollars. He enjoyed camping at Cherrystone Campground where he developed life-long friendships.  He was an avid fisherman and crabber.  He was retired from the Naval Warfare Surface Center in Indian Head MD, and from Steamfitters Local 602.  He is also a Vietnam Veteran, honorably discharged in 1969 and earning 2 bronze service stars.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Tiffany Sollars Jewell and her husband, Jeffrey, of Butler, OH; and two sons, William R. Sollars, Jr. and his wife, Marcella, of King George, VA, and John Roger Sollars of Georgetown, DE.  Also survived by grandchildren, Tyler Jewell (Brianna), Hunter Jewell (Deanna), Dylan Jewell, Ashley Ramos, Bianca Sollars, Cody Sollars and Simon Ardila; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be conducted Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 1:00PM at Doughty Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fletcher officiating. Family will join friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore Holiday Fund, 23610 North St, Onancock, VA 23417.
