William J. Sowers, 86, of Carmel, Indiana died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on January 4, 2024. Bill was born on January 10, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the devoted son of the late William J. (Sr.) and Gertrude E. Sowers of Indianapolis.
Bill graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1955 and spent his entire career in the printing industry. He married the love of his life Judith (Judi Lowe) in May of 1958. They built a wonderful life and were married for over 65 years. He has been a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for over 35 years and also was a devout Catholic.
He and Judi owned Photo Print Printing until they were bought by Wright Printing. He then worked for White Arts Printing in sales where he rose through the ranks and served as its President and Owner for 10 years before his retirement in the late ‘90’s.
Bill was a good and faithful servant. He worked tirelessly with Judi for their family and employees. He was kind and a giver to so many. His respect for others was immeasurable.
Bill loved motor sports especially at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He entertained and loved being there with their clients, friends and family. His father, Bill Sr. took Bill there as a young child to the track and that’s all it took to be a big fan.
Bill also loved his grandchildren. Many of them shared so many loving and funny memories about his devotion and care over his last few weeks. He was smiling especially when they talked about his infamous red sports car named “Little Red.”
Bill is survived by his wife, Judith (Judi) and their children Lori and (Jeff) Norris, Brad and (Michele) Sowers and Angela and (Sean) Dunlavy, grandchildren Joshua Johnson, Ashley (Sean) Brewer, Matthew (Anna) Norris, Zachary Johnson (Vivian), Alexandra (James) Vollmer, Grace Dunlavy, Jacob Sowers, Chloe Sowers and Ava Dunlavy and great grandchildren, Mackenzie Brewer, Lucas and Luna Johnson, Caleb Norris and Madelyn Vollmer.
