William Karl Stack, a.k.a Bill, Dad and Dad-Dad, died at home June 11, 2025. Born in Paterson, May 26, 1948, to Joseph C. Stachielczyk and Pauline Ann Stasukaitis, Bill was raised in Paramus along with his brother Joseph and his sister Paula. His father legally changed their last name when Bill was a few years old. After graduating from Paramus High School, he attended Monmouth University then known as Monmouth College. Monmouth College, House of Knowledge, was how Bill fondly referred to it. There he made friends who would remain good friends for the rest of his life, among them, Barry Reich and John McCourt. After graduating in 1971 with a Business degree, Bill moved to the Bayshore area, then settled in Matawan after his marriage to Shelley. He was in sales at Savin Business Machines when he met Shelley. They became engaged after two months of dating and married three months later, remaining married for fifty-one years.
Bill's career in Information Technology Sales took him to different countries and even to India for a while. Bill made and kept many friends along the way. He never forgot a name, from his elementary school buddies, to his college friends and fraternity brothers, to his golf buddies, to his many co-workers. Bill forgot to take the garbage out almost every day but never forgot a name.
Bill adored his two daughters, Samantha and Chelsea. He was their cheerleader, their advocate, and their rock. Always there to catch them when they fell. Always there to boost them up. His two grandchildren, Jack and Caroline, were the dual shining lights of his retirement years. Which were not really retirement years at all. He was a full-time grandpa, meeting the school buses, taking the kids to doctor appointments, going to school shows, to ball games, to practices, to and from wherever they needed or wanted to be, always there for anything they needed every day.
In addition to family and friends already named, Bill leaves behind his sister-in-law Kit (Joseph), son-in-law Shawn Madden (Chelsea), Samantha's partner Adam Mikucki, his cousin Jack Doyle (Katy) as well as his niece Alisa Stack and nephew Aaron Stack, his cousin Lauretta Ann Pierson and her two sons, Paul and Michael Pierson.
A celebration of Bill's life will take place at Waitt Funeral Home, Rt. 79, Morganville, Saturday, June 21, from 1:00 to 4:00.
