On May 28, 1940, the sun rose on William E. Stewart-a gift to anyone who got to know him-in Adel, Cook County, Georgia. He went home to be with the Lord on September 8, 2025, from Stratford, Connecticut.
William (sometimes referred to as Bill) was born to William Henry and Betty Mae (Board) Stewart. He graduated from Wilson High School, Tifton, Georgia, in 1959. William Edward Stewart, Jr., of
Bridgeport, CT and Jarron (Stewart) Marshall of Valdosta, GA were born from his first marriage. From his union with Elizabeth, Deidre (Dee) A. Stewart and Dawn E. Stewart Lee were born.

A loving husband, cherished father, and warm-hearted grandfather, William was a devoted follower of Christ, dedicating his life to the Lord. Together with Elizabeth, his wisdom and love for the Lord were ever present at home, teaching his children how to live for Christ. As a long-time member and active participant of First Baptist Church of Stratford, William faithfully served on the Board of Trustees, and became a Deacon. His servitude as a Deacon continued until his illness prevented further service.
William's strong work ethic showed in his daily two-hour commute, driving a commuter van, and being a highly respected member of his working community. He retired in 1996 after 27 years with State of Connecticut.
William saw the value of life. Throughout the years, he enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and racquetball, fishing and boating, telling funny stories, and much more.
