William E. Sullivan, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, in Otsego, Michigan at the age of 87. Born on March 16, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois, Bill was the son of Vincent and Susan (McKeown) Sullivan.
Bill is survived by his high-school sweetheart and beloved wife of 59 years, Dee Sullivan, and their children: Tammy Sullivan, Gregory (Patricia) Sullivan, Patrick (Denise) Sullivan, and Christopher Sullivan. He was a proud grandfather to Stephanie (Sean) O'Neill, Kathryn (Zeke) Perez, Brian (Carole) Sullivan, Alexander (Kasia) Sullivan, Kelsey (Lee Coates) Sullivan, Liberty Sullivan, and Matilda Sullivan, and he was blessed to see the birth of seven great-grandchildren.
After graduating from De La Salle High School in 1957, Bill pursued higher education at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, Tennessee, where he graduated in 1962. His passion for science led him to a distinguished career as a Nuclear Physicist at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, Illinois, where he dedicated 45 years.
Bill was a man of faith and community, actively involved in St. Ambrose Catholic Church. His retirement years were spent on the serene shores of Pine Lake in Michigan, where he could indulge in his love for boating, and the simple pleasures of life. A lifelong die-hard Bears fan, Bill's enthusiasm for his team was only matched by his skills in carpentry and his ability to solve puzzles with a patience and precision.
A history buff at heart, Bill's knowledge of the past was extensive, and he found joy in sharing it with others. He was a humble man who placed great value on his family, and his presence was a steady and reassuring force in the lives of all who knew him.
Bill's family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home, Delton, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 8th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Delton. Father Harold Potter will officiate. Private burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Hastings.
