Robbie G. Tackett passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, in
Delton, Michigan, at the age of 96. Robbie was born on May 26, 1929, in Clay County, Tennessee, to the late Willard and Verda (Johnson) Carter.
Robbie's journey began in the hills of Tennessee, where she first honed her work ethic, starting at a local shirt factory sewing buttonholes. Her path led her to Battle Creek, where she secured a position at Walgreens. It was there, amidst the soda fountain and the scent of pharmacy goods, she met the love of her life, Herbert Tackett Sr. They wove a life together, filled with love and laughter, until his passing in 1992. Robbie's role as a homemaker was one she embraced with pride and devotion, nurturing a family that would grow to encompass children, Herbert (Janice) Tackett Jr., Pamba Badger, ten grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
Robbie was the heart of her family, creating a legacy of warmth and unity. Her home was an abode where love was the main ingredient, whether she was canning summer's bounty, crocheting, or rolling a bowling ball down the alley with precision. Her involvement as a longtime secretary for the Jones Lake Association illustrated her commitment to her community and her love for the serenity of the lake.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. She was an active participant in TOPS, where she shared her journey of health and friendship. But above all, Robbie's family was her world. Her eyes sparkled brightest when surrounded by her grandchildren, whose lives she touched with her wisdom and grace. Robbie relished being the center of attention, not for vanity, but for the pure pleasure of bringing people together, echoing her favorite saying, "everyone loves me and I love everyone."
Robbie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, her daughter Deborah Eccleston, her son-in-law Dennis Badger, and her ten siblings. Her life was a journey of joy, resilience, and unconditional love-a narrative that will be fondly remembered and celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Robbie's family will receive friends on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 12:00-1:00 PM at the Faith United Methodist Church where her service will take place at 1:00 PM with a luncheon to follow. Her nephew Brice Murphy will officiate. Robbie will be laid to rest next to her husband at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
